Self Led Short Breaks - Highland Coast To Coast

Route: Coast to coast across the full width of Highland Scotland.  From Kyle of Lochalsh on the west to Stonehaven on the east.

Duration: 3 days cycling

Total Cycling Distance: 190 miles (Average cycling distance is 63 miles per day.)

Departures: Self led tours departs any Monday (optional arrival at Kyle of Lochalsh on Sunday) from April to October.  Group tours can be arranged according to requirements.

Price: Self Led Tours - From £176 per person sharing a double room.  This is a base price which includes 3 nights accommodation and supply of the route in both hard copy and digital form.  Numerous optional services include accommodation on the final day, bike hire and GPS unit.  Luggage transfer may be available depending upon group size. Accommodation: 3-4 star hotels and guest houses.

 

The ultimate Highland cycling challenge.  This is an on-road 'Coast to Coast' across the highest hills in the Cairngorms and taking in some breathtaking scenery and breathtaking climbs!

Group/Supported Tours - This tour makes an excellent group event or fundraising challenge.  For group tours we can supply support vehicle, luggage transfer, cycling guide and can arrange transport to/from both Aberdeen and Inverness.

Self Led Tours - The tour begins in Kyle of Lochalsh.  If travelling by train, advance reservations for bikes are essential.  Bike hire is available for this tour - the size of the party will determine the cost per person if you wish to hire bikes or have luggage transferred.

Arrival Day:

Arrival in the city of Inverness. Once settled in your overnight accommodation, we will deliver bikes and equipment to you.

Day 1: Kyle of Lochalsh - Fort Augustus (57 miles)

Day one of this three day trip leaves Kyle of Lochalsh at the Skye Bridge.  Passing Eilean Donan Castle This is an external link. the route heads directly west to finish at Fort Augustus at the southern end of Loch Ness.

Day 2: Fort Augustus - Tomintoul (68 miles)

This is the longest and certainly the toughest of the three days, cycling into the heart of the Cairngorm mountains.  Initially the route travels through Strathnairn to Tomatin.  From Tomatin it's on to Carrbridge, Nethy Bridge and finally to Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands.

Day 3: Tomintoul - Stonehaven (64 miles)

Initially it's a roller-coaster of a road over past the ski-station at the Lecht and then rapidly down to Corgarff Castle This is an external link.. The route continues along Donside, before crossing over to Deeside and finally reaching the east coast at the picturesque harbour at Stonehaven.

Arrival & Departure

This is a one way journey starting on the west coast of Scotland and finishing three days ater on the east coast. Kyle of Lochalsh has a direct rail connection to Inverness.  Stonehaven is 15 miles south of Aberdeen and has a rail link to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.  A connection in Aberdeen will take you back to Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh.
